Normally, when I interview bands, all they want to talk about is the next upcoming cool thing that they are doing. Even though I asked about all the cool stuff, MADUS got pretty insightful about who they were and what they plan on doing as musicians. And I really respect these guys for being so candid. They are normal guys that just happen to be talented musicians and run a sick band.

Alt-J – An Awesome Wave

2012 was a great year for the UK. Between hosting the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee, British music outdid itself and really shone through while all eyes were on our little island. Alt-J’s debut album An Awesome Wave is an example of the UK’s indie scene innovating and advancing, with ‘Breezeblocks’ being one of the biggest tracks of the year.

Alt-J took the UK by storm last year by touring the festival circuit in the summer, including Reading/Leeds festival (Where I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of them!). They have recently announced a UK and North American

Dom Kennedy’s The Yellow Album

So Dom Kennedy had not dropped anything for the streets in a while. The last thing he dropped was a song for his mixtape the yellow album. The song was “My type of party”. This song had the streets buzzing, and had people wondering would this be another classic mixtape from Dom Kennedy. From the west side with love 2 was enough to keep the streets full for a while, but they got hungry and wanted some new shit.

Curren$y, a rapper coming out of New Orleans, has been in the game for quite some time now. From his time in Young Money Cash Money to his appearance in XXL top Freshmen list. In his time in the rap game he has linked up with many artists especially in his mix tapes ( Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean etc.) releasing great songs for people to hear.  He has also released albums that have helped him achieve the fan base he has now. Just yesterday he released an album titled The Stoned Immaculate, but is this album enough to push him to the top?

Have you ever realized there’s always one song/artist that you play throughout the week or weekend? It just gets stuck in your head, right? At least, that’s the case for me. This whole last week was Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know.”

This time around, Monarchy’s “Maybe I’m Crazy” takes the award for non-stop plays. This single is off their upcoming album Around the Sun which is now available for per-order on iTunes.

Shoutout: Remix The Video

The Kickdrums are quickly becoming one of my favorite groups and their latest masterpiece “The Ghost Mixtape” is no disappointment. A little treat before their album Meet Your Ghosts comes out, The Kickdrums’ mesh of hip-hop over drums and a rock-the-fuck-out tune make for a great mix. I just wish I could have seen them at Coachella. Damnnit.

Check out my favorite track of the mixtape and be sure to download the whole tape.

Ellie Goulding tweeted about The Weeknd a few months back and I’ve been hooked ever since. Is there any track from The Weeknd that isn’t awesome? This fan-made video, and the other fan-made vids, will absolutely make it hard to top once The Weeknd actually debuts an official music video for a track off his album/mixtape House of Balloons.

I’m thinking about making a video for Eliza Doolittle. Something awesome; something colorful; something Nike-ish. We’ll see.
