What better way to end the year then to, well, look forward to next year? 2012 was so (almost) last year. We put together a list of bands and artists that we think you should know about in the coming year. Some of these names have been coming up and we’re expecting them to blow up while others have been on the scene for a while and we’re just looking forward to some new material.

PK – We first caught wind of PK when we were asked to interview them while they played a show in Hollywood. We obliged, thankfully because these guys turned out to be a pretty dope group. Their show was intense and they had two good singles to excite the crowd. My turning point was when I caught myself singing along to “Berelain” a couple of months after the interview. It’s become a part of my almost-everyday playlist. So what you waiting for, guys? Come down and make your move (new music!).

Listen to: PK – “Berelain”

Black Kids – I listen to bands more often whenever I start wanting to see them in concert. Black Kids’ debut album was some few years ago and earlier this year they said a new album is in the works. Next year should be pretty big for them if they’re really looking into some new music.

Listen to: Black Kids – “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance”

Daft Punk – This is all rumor here: They’ve been rumored to play at Coachella for years now. There’s been some talk of them having new tunes out by Glastonbury 2013. Whether that correlates with the rumors of playing in the desert in April or even at Ultra MF is yet to be seen. Regardless of where they make their comeback, anything new in 2013 from Daft Punk is a gift from the music gods.

Listen to: Daft Punk – “One More Time”

Gold Fields – I went crazy over this band in October and November. I went to three of their shows and couldn’t get enough. These Aussie mates became one of my favorite acts to see in person. Excited more of these guys in the future.

Listen to: Gold Fields – “Dark Again”

New Politics – New Politics remind me of everything I used to listen to as a kid: from Weezer and Rage and a hint of Nirvana all mixed in. Their second album is in the works and is set to be released early in 2013. This is the band where when they come one you say, “Fuck yeah, I love New Politics!”

Listen to – New Politics – “Yeah Yeah Yeah!”

Other notables: Sky Larkin, Strange Talk, Eliza Doolittle, Warpaint, Icona Pop, Free Energy, and Fez.

You know that song that you just can’t get out of your head? It’s playing every single second you mute your thinking; every single rhythm in your life is moving to that one tune.

There’s a reason we’re called Dear Song In My Head: We like to post songs that we’re almost-sure will be stuck in your head. What’s been on my mind so much lately is Sleeper Agent’s “Get Burned.”

We’re proud to announce our app has been updated to version 1.0! It only took us a month of basically running a beta v 0.5 but we’re proud of it. I may be the only one on the team that actually uses a Windows Phone (MSFT, ftw!) but we’ve had over 350+ downloads in just a little over a month that we had the app in the marketplace.

Yeah, I know what you’re saying, “People actually use those phones??!!” Hey, wait ’til next year when the Xbox 720 comes out, our tech ecosystem will be badass. Anyhoot, here are some updates to our app:

WeFess: Soundproof Bathroom

Okay, I know it’s Friday, but I’m going to pretend it’s Wednesday and I didn’t miss two deadlines for school this week. Moreover, I’m going to pretend I have an awesome soundproof bathroom and a voice that rivals even the best of them. And if you don’t already do the same, you should totally start!

After all, the bathroom is the perfect place one can sing to their heart’s content without being judged, or in my case, get told to put a lid on it. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with a golden voice, unlike some of you, but that doesn’t stop me from belting out my favorite Christina Aguilera songs – in the shower, that is. Oh, and don’t judge me; Christina’s “Back To Basic” album is dope! You know you do it, too. Everyone has done it at one point or another, and let’s be honest, you probably really enjoy it.

Trip. One. Four. Welcome to the first installment of Wednesday’s Confessionals. As we all know, Valentine’s Day is on the fourteenth of February. Way to state the obvious, right? Well, I love this “holiday,” but what’s love got to do with it? Nothing. It’s all about the chocolates. Believe it or not, I get more candy and chocolate on Valentine’s Day than Halloween (because I buy and send them to myself). It’s awesome. I’m awesome – be jealous.

Okay, now it’s time to get un-jealous-ed. Because despite all the chocolate and flowers I may receive, I confess, I will most likely spend this Valentine’s Day alone. Yup, while you lovers are busy holding hands, feeding each other and drinking wine at your special dinners,  I will be all alone with boxes and boxes of chocolates. Not so awesome.

Wednesday’s Confessionals (WeFess) – I’m starting a new string of posts dedicated to “that one song” that reminds us of a certain place, incident, or person that happened in our lives. Every Wednesday, I will post and share a different song with you. I will focus more on the particular song than the overall artist. I’m doing so because unlike my regular posts, not only will I post a song, but I will confess a story (most likely an embarrassing anecdote) to go along with it. Each week will have a new topic and confession. Indeed, our pain will be your entertainment. Also, I apologize in advance for all the randomness that may occur, and please, don’t be frightened by the songs posted on WeFess. They won’t bite. Promise.

It’s that time of year again. No, not the holiday spirit, but the blogosphere spirit where everyone turns in their top albums of the year list. We’ve never been one to make lists. Hell, we’re not really too deep into the whole “album” spirit. With that in mind, we’ve created a list of some of our top singles of this year. There are obviously plenty others that we love, but most of them are here because we posted about them on the site. Of course we love the Adeles, Florence and The Machines, and Radioheads of the 2011 music year. It’d be crazy not to. Check out some of our favorite tracks of 2011:

M83 – “Midnight City”

Gotye – “Somebody That I Used To Know”

Penguin Prison – “Don’t Fuck With My Money”

Monarchy – “Maybe I’m Crazy”

Keep going, there’s more:
