Hoodie Allen is a non-stop music-dropping machine. Seriously, when does the guy ever stop making music? Hoodie dropped the first track (“Cake Boy”) to the Crew Cuts mixtape last week. Today, he’s dropped the music video to “Fame is For Assholes” which has a verse from Chiddy of Chiddy Bang. Any track where Chidera hits on the verse is a dope track.

Crew Cuts is due out on Wednesday.

Oh! My Blackbird-Dare Me

Dare Me

Oh! My Blackbird is a NYC-based chamber folk trio led by singer/songwriter Annie Sullivan. Sullivan’s songs are quirky, personal, and consistently catchy. On Dare Me, the band collects 10 songs that blend lush and sophisticated instrumental and vocal arrangements with decidedly immature lyrical themes. Which is not to say that the lyrics are expertly crafted. Sullivan’s songs about young romance and heartbreak are honest and perceptive.

New: 2AM Club – “Too Fucked Up To Call”

2am Club

Here’s another gem from 2am Club. They’ve been getting better and better. From their days of singing and trying a little too hard to rap (not in a bad way), they’ve been able to find a balance in their hip-hop/R&B style. “Mary” was a good step toward the group becoming more prominent, and now I think they’ve really been able to create their own distinct sound.

Video: Gold Fields “Dark Again”

Undoubtedly my favorite band from 2012, I had the fortune to check them out a few times these last couple of months while they were in LA. Gold Fields’ new video of “Dark Again” continues their  dark and tribal tribute to … wizardry?

Whatever their visuals consist of, it almost matches the authenticity of their live shows: plenty of danceable rhythms and pumped up drums.

Check out the visuals for “Dark Again” and our review of their show the Viper Room in LA.

Video: iSH – “End of the Story”

I’ve been a huge of iSH since The Name is iSH dropped a few years ago. “Hustle To Be Free” is a must-listen to any new iSH fan.

“End of the Story” is a very dark song, but beautiful at the same time. I’ve always been impressed in how iSH can draw visuals from his words. It’s always a listen-and-visualize when iSH performs.

These days we have to reinvent ourselves on a daily basis. We can lose our sense of purpose to simple distractions, not giving ourselves enough time to reflect. In the first video release for the THR3MIX project, End of the Story is about coming to terms with failure, mastering defeat and laying to rest the insecurities that keep us from reaching our potential.

Video: Two Door Cinema Club – “Sun”

“Sun” is the second single taken from Beacon. Other than being lost at sea, the visuals are just like every other TDCC video: you have no idea what’s going on, but it’s still a party.
