This past month we’ve been to plenty of shows: from watching bands play in the Culture Collide Festival to free local shows and even some Bombay Bicycle Club, but there’s one show in particular we were looking forward to: Two Door Cinema Club with Friends and St. Lucia. Two Door always put on a good show — with all the singing, and dancing in the crows. As fun as their show can be, we wanted to see the level of badass-ness Friends could reach in their own set.

Friends isn’t your typical female-fronted band. They’re composed of three chicks and two dudes. Having never of head them before, you’d probably think they’re a cover band mostly filling in with 80s’ pop tunes. This Brooklyn-based band has its cool funk stemming from their very cool lead songstress, Samantha Urbani.

Jacob Butler – “Mind Waltz”

I first heard Jacob Butler a couple of months ago and I’ve liked him since. I wish I would have posted “UKok” back at first listen, but now that I’m sunk into pleasure by the sweet timbre of his voice.

“Mind Waltz” is just as pleasureable. Butler won the international Songwriting Award for “Mind Waltz” in a competition called Unsigned Only.

Hoodie Allen + G-Eazy – “Lady Killers”

When we last talked to G-Eazy he mentioned he would have his mixtape out in August, but it’s due out in two weeks. Though, if he keeps putting out shit like this, I think no one would mind the wait.

“Lady Killers” is more of a G-Eazy sound, but Hoodie Allen fits in nicely: a nice balance of rap and a little singing

G-Eazy’s forthcoming mixtape, Must Be Nice, is due September 26.

New: Eliza Doolittle – “Don’t Call It Love”

You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to write that title up there. I’ve been impatiently waiting for new Doolittle music for as long as I can remember. Evidence is here, here, and a few more here.

“Don’t Call It Love” is a new teaser to the record she’s been working on for some time now. She teamed up with British producer Kwes which makes for a catchy pop-tune. Don’t call it love, but doo listen to it again and again.

2AM Club – Mary (Ft. Big Sean, Dev)

This Big Sean feature with 2AM Club came from almost nowhere. Just the other day these guys were playing shows in San Fran for a cool, low-key crowd. Even I remember going to there shows with only a handful of people in the crowd.

“Mary” is a bit more hip than the usual 2AM Club pop. Though, to their credit, they have performed with the likes of Posner and Sean before, but have never recorded anything in studio. So this is a welcoming tune to guys who have

EP: Nolita View Release Self-Titled EP

We brought you Nolita View a long time ago back when they were called ‘Fez.’. I considered their “Low Light” track a must-insert-into-playlist tune.

Previously, I thought they had a little hint of Phoenix going on, but I think they have a great mix of guitar melody and vocals for a unique style of their own.

Here’s what they had to say about their new name:

The name ‘Nolita View’ was taken from a song by the National called ‘Driver, Surprise me’. The character in this song is feeling quite numb and in need of
