2011 XXL Freshmen

XXL‘s 2011 Fresman Class is out. Here’s the list: Lil B, Big K.R.I.T, CyHi Da Prynce, Diggy Simmons, Fred The Godson, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Twist, Mac Miller, Meek Mill, Yelawolf, and YG.

I’m pretty damn mad that XV has yet to make XXL’s top freshmen class. Any long-time XV fan knows XV’s beef with XXL, but, the more I think about it, it’s good for him. Listening to Vizzy’s lyrics, it’s clear he has taken the underdog-unappreciated role and created a mindset to just “make hits instead of lists.”

XXL didn’t expect XV to excel, so before

XV just dropped the visuals for FIFA (Feeling Internationally Famous Already) which is a teaser for the The Kid With The Green Backpack album that has taken longer to debut than Dr. Dre’s “Detox.”

“‘Pomona’ let us in,

Now they spotted a N***a like leopard prints”

Okay, Vizzy doesn’t really say “Pomona” but I thought he did, and I asked him, but he said “Club Owner.”
Damnit, I just wanted a shoutout to my city from XV. Ha

XV – SmallVille (Prod. J.Cole)

Produced by J. Cole, XV decided to share this song in honor of J. Cole’s birthday. XV said there are two more tracks soon to be released that either features J. Cole on the track or produced by him. Happy birthday, J. Cole!

Teachers thought I’d never come out of my shell,

and well, now I hop on beats and go pistachios.

Only 84 days remaining until Coachella and today we have music from Two Door Cinema Club. Two Door Cinema Club consists of four Irish mates (ha, mates) with an electro rock/pop tune. TDCC is easily one of my most favorite bands to listen to. I only have five bands/artists that have their own playlist on my iPod: Tupac, XV, Jack Johnson, Wale, and Two Door Cinema Club; that’s it.

Two Door Cinema Club released their debut album, Tourist History, in April of last year and have been touring the globe non-stop. I was fortunate enough to attend one of their US shows in Los Angeles and it was one of the best nights ever. Along with their debut album, they recorded an EP and altogether, they have only 16 songs. The band is also featured on a few Kitsune Maison (their record label) mixes. I first heard of the band through the Kitsune Maison 7 Minimix. I would post every TDCC song but I’ll leave you guys with my four favorite tracks: “What You Know,” “I Can Talk,” and click for the next page to check out my two non-stop repeat songs; “Undercover Martyn,” and “This Is The Life.”

Marky ft. XV – Is It Cool to F*ck

It’s been a while since Marky’s “Journey to Markyland: Rest Stop 3” but he’s starting off 2011 on a good note. Vizzy and Marky complement each other well on this track.

I don’t think many of the lady friends I know would think Mortal Kombat is cool, but i’d definitely try to pull off every finisher I know just to get a kiss. XV has already scored from Liu Kang and Scorpion. If you don’t know what i’m talking about, check out XV’s track called “Controller.”

New MP3: XV – 2015

2011, The Year of the Squarians, can’t get much closer.  The Kid With the Green Backpack coming third quarter, err, maybe next year, finally?

In all seriousness, XV and Seven have collaborated to produce some great songs together. The’yre almost on that Chiddy-and-Xaphoon Jones level of Awesomeness. I’d like to know who would win in a tag-team match between XV and Seven, and Chiddy and Xaphoon.
