Julio Bashmore has released another song that’s guaranteed to be a favourite in the underground London club scene. Featuring vocals from previous collaborator Jessie Ware, Peppermint is an exciting insight into his soon to be released debut which is hopefully arriving in 2014. I’ve been addicted to Bashmore since he released Au Seve last year so I definitely recommend the Bashmore experience.

Goodman- “Like What They Like”

goodman

“Like What They Like” begins like a faucet being turn on full blast. One moment there’s silence, and the next, the song is on full blast. Goodman doesn’t have time for intros with a song like this. It’s too urgent. Its message too important to waste any time. That feeling of urgency and immediacy keeps up throughout the whole track. It’s under 3 minutes and every second counts, every moment is filled to the brim. For a song that sardonically criticizes the musical landscape, that kind of sonic megaphoning is the only way. And although Goodman may be young, he’s smart enough to know that.

Ghost Pal-Circle

Ghost Pal

Brooklyn-based, psychedelic soul band Ghost Pal’s newest single is a sprawling eight-minute medley of the traditional folk song “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and the Toots and The Maytal’s soul classic “Time Tough”. Augmented by a choir of label-mates from Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen, the track feels like a big party for the label/studio/collective. The song rises and falls with swells of banging drums, thick organ chords, and aggressive guitars. The layered vocals add to the gospel quality of the songs, which is complimented interestingly with the psychedelic-rock style.

In preparation for his first full-length album, The Light Within, to be released on May 14th, New York-based singer-songwriter Jared Saltiel has released a new single and a B-side to hold us over. Much like his work on his two previous EPs, Holy Grail Blues and The Moon, Mary, and Me show off Saltiel’s unique blend of style, resulting in intricate and idiosyncratic songs that are at once impressive and undeniably catchy.
