Last week we set out to meet the San Luis Obispo band named PK before their performance at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood. PK is made up of Travis Hawley (Vocals), Matt DePauw (Guitar), Mikel Van Kranenburg (Bass), Nick Fotinakes (Guitar) and Rico Rodriguez (Drums).

We had a ton of fun meeting the guys from PK. Although their genres differ a bit, they remind me of the guys from 2Am Club. They’re young, play badass music, and their performances are pretty live.

They’re really down-to-earth guys. Rico was cool enough to talk to us after the interview and before the show. He also thanked us for not asking us about the “PK” moniker (just a note to other bloggers :])

Meet the band and check out some of their thoughts on playing in Hollywood, favorite bands, and musical influences.

Well they are certainly going for a different sound for their upcoming 5th Studio Album “The Papercut Chronicles II”, the sequel to their 2005 hit album. I’m not sure if this new single will be as big as their previous one titled “Stereo Hearts” but we will see!

Whether you know him as Ralph Folarin, Wale Kemp, Wale Ovechkin, Wale Knievel, or The D.C. Major, Wale RockWilder (My own name for him) is one of the dopest rappers in the game. I’ve been keeping an ear out for the D.C. native since The Mixtape About Nothing came out and have followed every track since. Wale is clearly a very poetic dude who puts every ounce into his music. He’s collaborated with some of the best in the game but his solo tracks remain the greatest. I’ve got more than 100 of his songs, so I wanted to share a few of his tracks with you guys since he’s one of my favorite rappers of all-time. You guys don’t need any more info, so go on with your swell-ass and listen to the tunes.

“I appreciate the lovers, but I appreciate the haters even more.”

For bandwith purposes, I didn’t put every single dope track from Wale. All MP3s here are free. Buy his Attention Deficit or Self Made songs from iTunes or wherever people buy tracks from these days. If you’d like to download all the tracks, check the download link at the bottom.

There’s no surprise that many rappers release their music on Twitter, but many have followed suit in releasing tracks when they reach a certain number of followers. Xaphoon Jones, Hoodie Allen, and XV have released their share of tracks and it’s not the first time Mac Miller has done the same. For reach 400K Twitter followers, Mac Miller released  this new track that samples The Temper Trap’s “Love Lost.” I’m loving this wave of hip-hop sampling indie bands.

Only a few more hours. F*ck yeah! I’m stoked. Tomorrow shall be the beginning of an amazing weekend for all you folks heading out to Coachella. Seriously, I might pass out; and not from the heat, but from all the glorious music! Alright, so we introduced many great artists and bands during our Countdown to Coachella series, and I’m saddened that we weren’t able to bring more artists into the limelight, but I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of them more on the site. I have compiled a set of tracks from several artists and bands whom I will be checking out during this weekend’s festivities. So, if you can’t join us, you can still jam with us.

XXL‘s 2011 Fresman Class is out. Here’s the list: Lil B, Big K.R.I.T, CyHi Da Prynce, Diggy Simmons, Fred The Godson, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Twist, Mac Miller, Meek Mill, Yelawolf, and YG.

I’m pretty damn mad that XV has yet to make XXL’s top freshmen class. Any long-time XV fan knows XV’s beef with XXL, but, the more I think about it, it’s good for him. Listening to Vizzy’s lyrics, it’s clear he has taken the underdog-unappreciated role and created a mindset to just “make hits instead of lists.”

XXL didn’t expect XV to excel, so before

Only 84 days remaining until Coachella and today we have music from Two Door Cinema Club. Two Door Cinema Club consists of four Irish mates (ha, mates) with an electro rock/pop tune. TDCC is easily one of my most favorite bands to listen to. I only have five bands/artists that have their own playlist on my iPod: Tupac, XV, Jack Johnson, Wale, and Two Door Cinema Club; that’s it.

Two Door Cinema Club released their debut album, Tourist History, in April of last year and have been touring the globe non-stop. I was fortunate enough to attend one of their US shows in Los Angeles and it was one of the best nights ever. Along with their debut album, they recorded an EP and altogether, they have only 16 songs. The band is also featured on a few Kitsune Maison (their record label) mixes. I first heard of the band through the Kitsune Maison 7 Minimix. I would post every TDCC song but I’ll leave you guys with my four favorite tracks: “What You Know,” “I Can Talk,” and click for the next page to check out my two non-stop repeat songs; “Undercover Martyn,” and “This Is The Life.”

Aren’t viral videos just amazing? A guy by the name of Walter C. May decided to make this video with the help of a roommate, who’s in the band playing, to let his girlfriend know that “they can feel close without having to be close every day.” He wants his girlfriend to see  this video through the internet without him having to directly lead her to it.

Pfft. And girls think guys aren’t creative. This guy just one-upped every boyfriend in the country.
