Show Review: Gold Fields (Los Angeles, CA)
What do you do when you live in LA and are having a stressful week? We head to the Sunset Strip. And do what? Well, we go and check out an awesome Aussie band. That’s exactly what we did last night when we went to go check out Gold Fields for a third time in a month.
The first time I heard Gold Fields was last month during the Culture Collide Fest in LA. I instantly fell in love with their hard-punching sounds ringing in my ear. The next night, it was more of the same. They played in consecutive days for CC and I just couldn’t get enough. I would have gone another time when they played at Capitol Records but went with Bombay BC at the Music Box instead.
This time around, we wanted to see Gold Fields in a more intimate manner while playing at a very, very small venue in The Viper Room. They played their whole selection of music, which most are pretty intense.
It wasn’t as satisfying as the other shows, but you can tell that these guys try to make the most out of the time they have up on stage. Their last two songs consisted of their biggest cheers: “Treehouse,” and “Moves.”
Whether you’re checking them out for the first time or have been to a previous show, these guys still put up some good music, and in their case, match that with an awesome performance. I definitely recommend to experience Gold Fields in person.
