New Arcades – “More Than This
London synth-pop duo New Arcades have announced the release of new single More Than This. Following on from the 100,000 plus Spotify plays previous single Wherever You Are attracted in the first few months of being available, More Than This carries the same distinctive 80s pop grandiose but with an added tenderness tied in by Lula’s guest vocal. With a succession of recent singles over the last year or so, New Arcades have produced a steady trajectory: now More Than This takes a new path illustrating their ability to collaborate to a devastating level.
With a drive for creating contrast in the dynamics between verses and chorus, introducing a guest vocal accentuates this process and illustrates an exciting evolution in the band’s creative process.
“We spent a lot of time, changing and manipulating sounds for this one we wanted a unique blend of our existing instruments, with the introduction of some other spatial and unique SFX sounds” comments Adam one half of the duo.“Lula was a late introduction, she’s a good friend, we realised the contrast of her vocal on the chorus not only as a really special unique voice, but also would have an impact on the song emotionally and as a change to the story. We are thrilled to have had her feature, she’s a great artistWe hope to continue making more special tracks, following the placement of one of the Scenes EP tracks “Don’t Let Go” on a hollywood movie, we realised the sound has a real strength with moving images and pictures. This is what inspired the artwork, the girl on the front is represented by Lula on the track.”New Arcades are inspired by nostalgic memories of 80’s cinema and vintage synth sounds. Previous singles have grabbed attention from the Drive Radio top 10, Clash, Indie Shuffle, Kick Kick Snare and Sugarbang. Previous EPScenes was sold on cassette in early 2014.
